For clubs and stores

One server for every table. Game masters look after their campaigns, one person in the club looks after the server.

Why it is built for clubs

  • Several campaigns, one administration

Every group has its own campaign with chronicle, bible and scheduling. The administration sees accounts, queue and costs, but none of the campaign content.

  • Invite at the table

New players scan the QR code or open the invitation link. Anyone without the app gets a page that explains what to do next.

  • Costs with a ceiling

You set a monthly cost limit for cloud services. When it is reached, jobs wait instead of spending money. An overview shows what each campaign has used.

  • Backups every night

Database, images and documents are backed up every night, and the last 14 days are kept. You can restore from the administration.

What it looks like in the app

Campaign bible: what only the GM should know sits in the “GM only” box.
Scheduling: everyone says when they can play, the app suggests the best date.
Invite at the table: share a link or show the QR code.

Three modes

  • Cloud only

Transcription and summaries through Mistral (EU). No local server needed.

Costs per session, with a monthly cost limit.

  • Local server

Your own server with an NVIDIA graphics card processes everything, at your club or at home. Nothing goes outside.

    Hardly any running costs.

  • Local server, cloud as fallback

The local server does the work. If it is unreachable for a while, Mistral steps in, if the campaign allows it.

Costs only when the cloud steps in.

Players never pay. Costs only arise from processing and are carried by whoever runs the table.

Frequently asked questions

Which game systems?

All of them. Taleward is system-neutral: D&D, Call of Cthulhu, The Dark Eye and Household should all feel at home. Taleward writes down what is said; it does not do the maths.

Does it work over Discord?

Yes. For games on Discord, everyone records their own track.

What does it cost?

Nothing for players: account, joining, recaps, bible, comments, scheduling and character portraits are always free.

Costs only arise from processing. With “Cloud only”, you pay Mistral per session, capped by your cost limit, plus the rent for the server. With a local server, it comes down to electricity and hardware you may already have.

Where is the data?

On your server. Recordings are deleted once they have been turned into text. With “Cloud only”, they go to Mistral in the EU for that. With your own server, nothing goes outside.

Everyone gives their own consent before recording, and can export their data and delete their account.

Does everyone need the app?

To read the recaps, yes. The app is available for Android. There is no iPhone version yet. Guests can consent without an account, right at the table.

Does it work without a club?

Yes. A private group runs Taleward the same way on its own server, rented or at home. Someone in the group takes care of the administration. Everything on this page applies to you as well.

Can the club see what happens in our campaign?

No. The administration shows accounts, jobs and costs. Recaps, bible and transcripts are only visible to the campaign’s members, secrets only to the game master.
